Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain
The Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC or Food Safety Agency) is a public service responsible for monitoring the food chain from producer to consumer. Through inspections, sampling and analyses, it monitors the entire food chain: raw materials, farms, food industry, shops and restaurants… It monitors the self-checking systems that operators must have in place to ensure the safety of their products. It is also competent for animal health and plant health control. The FASFC also controls the import and export of animals, plants and foodstuffs from and to countries outside the European Union.
