The FAVV or FASFC (Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain) has a control unit in every province, including in Limburg.
The agency was established in the aftermath of the dioxin crisis in 1999 and since then it has acquired an excellent reputation. Every day the FASFC takes samples and checks the foodstuffs and raw materials we use every day. This is the only way to guarantee maximum safety for consumers. As a consumer you can also contact the “consumer hotline” of the FASFC with any questions or complaints you have about food safety. They also provide support to Belgian exporting companies and to countries that need it, for example Benin and Vietnam.
Since the FASFC’s foundation consumers believe that food safety has improved in our country. The FASFC also has an excellent reputation within Europe.
2011: New initiative, opting for an FASFC training as an alternative to the administrative penalty
2013: The food safety barometer, developed by the agency’s Scientific Committee, shows 2.9% progress.
