ADO Icarus is a non-profit association that provides support to people with serious physical disabilities who want to live independently. Their disabilities are congenital or the result of accidents, medical conditions etc. They are supported in 10 independent-living centres across Flanders. Every centre provides a wide range of services (independent living, Personal Assistance Budget, additional support etc.) to guarantee an autonomous and fulfilling life. ADO Icarus employs about 250 assistants. Users can benefit from assistance 24/7 by using a special notification system, e.g. when they require help while eating, going to the bathroom or washing. Needless to say, all rental houses are equipped to meet the needs of persons with physical disabilities. ADO Icarus is headquartered in Hasselt.
